Bounty Hunt Mode is an alternate game mode in OJ. It originally debuted as an early concept on April 18th, 2020 with the Bounty Hunters event, and was later reintroduced to the game as a permanent mode on February 23rd, 2021 with the Bounty Hungers event. Bounty Hunt Mode is a game mode where, instead of competing for stars and wins, players will be racing to accumulate Fame through the completion of quest and bounty objectives. This is accomplished through the use of contracts, which can be obtained by visiting any Home panel. Players will need to hold onto these contracts and visit different locations around the board in order to slay monsters and/or collect items that must be returned to a specific Shop building, which will reward the player with the Fame needed to achieve the norma objectives. In addition, players may spend their stars at Shops in order to purchase cards and items to obtain various buffs. Players must gain 20 Fame to achieve the final norma objective and win the game. __TOC__ ==Setup== To switch to Bounty Hunt Mode, the player must toggle the icon located next to the board menu. This can be done in both custom singleplayer games and online games. The player can also join an online Bounty Hunt lobby, by selecting the "Bounty Hunt" tab at the top of the online lobby list. ==Important Changes== Before examining the particulars of the mode, below is a basic list of rule changes the player should be aware of: *The only norma objective available is Fame. There will be no prompt to select a new Norma objective when leveling up, and both Stars and Wins norma are disabled. *Players can choose to stop at any Home panel, regardless of whether it is theirs. *Players start the game with a base amount of 40 stars. This value is adjusted depending on the player's base stats. *All units have a permanent +1 hand size. *Start-of-chapter bonus stars start at 3 (up from 1). *All players have an "Items" button, along with "Move" and "Card", that they may check at the beginning of their turn. This will open a menu which will list the player's held quest items, equipment items, and special items. All players will start with the "Wooden Sandals" equipment, which grant +1 MOV. *Each player starts with a random Quest contract in their hand, in addition to their one card. *A contract may be chosen when landing on a Home panel. These take up a slot in the player's hand, much like cards. *Various Shops and locations appear on random panels all around the board. A new set of Shops and locations spawn every 6 chapters, starting from Chapter 1. (1, 7, 13, 19, etc.) *From Chapter 15 onwards, a special unit called The Harbinger has a chance to spawn on a random panel at the start of every chapter. It will play alongside the other players as a 5th unit on the board, until it is KO'd. *The board's usual boss is replaced with Moss Golem. *Achieving battle KO against a player who possesses more Fame grants the victor 1 Fame. *The Treasure and Spores field events are disabled. *At the end of the match, the number of earned stars is increased by 50%. In online games, level EXP, item drop chance, and earned oranges are also increased by 50%. ===Fame Norma Objectives=== Unique Fame norma requirements are used. {|class="tablecolor" style="margin:auto; width:150px; -moz-border-radius: .7em; -webkit-border-radius: .7em; border-radius: .7em; text-align:center; color:black;" |- !Level !Fame |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" |1☆ |2 |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" |2☆ |5 |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" |3☆ |9 |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" |4☆ |14 |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" |5☆ |20 |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" |6☆ |Win |} ===Starting Stars=== Players will each start with a certain number of stars at the beginning of the match, starting at a base value of 40 stars. Based on a baseline stat spread of +0 ATK, +0 DEF, +0 EVD, 5 REC, and 5 HP, characters will gain an adjustment to this amount of starting stars based on how positive or negative each of their stats is. ATK points will add/subtract 10 stars, while DEF, EVD, REC, and HP points will add/subtract 4 stars. Characters with less than 3 REC are counted as having 5 REC for the purposes of the modifier calculation. Consequently, the stronger the character's stats, the less stars they will start with, and vice versa. For reference, each character's starting star amount can be seen in the table below. This formula is also used to determine each character's Shop price modifier. <onlyinclude><font size=2> {| class="tablecolor</onlyinclude> mw-collapsible mw-collapsed<onlyinclude>" style="width:80%; HUD is very slightly modified. While the display remains relatively the same, Wins are no longer listed on the HUD and are replaced with Fame, which will remain illuminated, as it is the only means of Norma completion. spacer In addition, The Harbinger will have a HUD located at the top of the screen in the center, similar to co-op bosses. This HUD has the same functionality as a player HUD. The HUD displays The Harbinger's current HP and current stacks of Famous Weakling Slayer. Hovering over the HUD will display The Harbinger's unit card, level, current stars, current wins, and active stock effects. This information is always visible to the players, which can enable them to strategize based upon the available info. ==Locations== <span style="font-size: 13.5px;">Locations are special areas that are spawned randomly across the board in Bounty Hunt Mode. These locations allow players to complete quests and bounties, serving as the primary means to gain Fame. At the beginning of every match, various locations and Shops spawn on random panels all around the board. Every 6 chapters, a new set of locations and Shops will randomly spawn, replacing the existing ones. Because locations and Shops are first spawned on Chapter 1, the refresh occurs on chapters 7, 13, 19, and so on. They will not spawn on Warp, Warp Move, or Move panels. Locations serve two main purposes: acquiring quest items and fighting monsters in Bounty battles. *Quest items are able to be retrieved from locations. After receiving a Quest contract, players may collect the needed quest item from the relevant location by landing on or passing the location it is associated with. *Monsters are found in locations, but are hidden at first. Any type of monster may spawn in any location. Whenever any player passes a location on the board, the type of monster residing there will be revealed to all players. When holding a Bounty contract, the player may go to a location that contains the specified monster to receive the option of battling it. The battle prompt will appear either by passing or landing on the location, and the monster does not have to be revealed beforehand. If the monster is defeated, the location it was in will despawn. There are a total of 10 types of locations. At the start of the game, 6 locations will be chosen out of the 10 to appear in that game, and the other 4 not selected will never spawn on the board, nor can their associated Quest contracts be obtained. ==Items Inventory== Bounty Hunt Mode features an additional "Items" button alongside the "Move" and "Cards" buttons that appear during standby. Clicking it will open the player's inventory, where any owned items are stored. Specifically, this inventory is where any obtained equipment, quest items, and special event items can be viewed. This inventory has no limit to the amount of items it can hold. *Equipment items grant the player a continuous passive effect. All players begin the game with Wooden Sandals owned by default, and other equipment items may be purchased from the Armory Shop. *Quest items are used to complete quests. Each Quest contract has its own associated quest item, and these items are obtained by passing the listed location when holding the relevant contract. Quest items can be turned in to the Shop listed on the contract to complete the quest and gain Fame. *Special items only appear during seasonal events, and thus have special conditions for being obtained or removed. {| class="tablecolor mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="width: 60%; color:black; border:1px #FFBE62; text-align:center; margin: 1em auto 1em auto;-webkit-border-radius:10px; color:black;" |- ! colspan=4 |Equipment items |- ! scope="col" width="1%"|Image ! scope="col" width="20%"|Name ! scope="col" width="60%"|Description ! scope="col" width="20%"|Obtain Method |- class = "wikitheme wikitheme-text" | |Wooden Sandals |A very common pair of shoes allowing you to sprint fast without hurting your feet.
