Strategy[ | ]
Dark Citadel is a large board with sweeping straightaways in its dangerous inner and lucrative outer routes. A Warp Move panel lies at the center, forcing every character who visits a Home panel to be warped towards the outer ring shortly afterwards. This leads to a gameplay style where most characters stick towards the outer ring before closing in onto their Home panels in the inner ring once they approach norma requirements before repeating the process.
Home panels inaccessible while allowing access to the Bonus (X2) panels.
, one of the default field events, has a unique effect with Dark Citadel. It slightly alters the paths, most notably leaving the- Wins: Encounter panels are most dense in the inner route, so players looking to norma using wins may prefer circling it. The Warp Move panel can be used to ambush opponents in the outer ring, which can prove quite useful.
- Stars: Most of the Bonus panels are only found in the outer route, so star collectors should typically be opportunistic when it comes to transitioning into the inner route. Staying in the inner ring for too long is not recommended due to the dangerous Encounter, Drop, and Damage panels, but it is necessary to reach Home panels and should not be discounted entirely.
