Chris

Chris (クリス Kurisu) is one of the playable characters in 100% Orange Juice!. She was added to the game in DLC 29, alongside Kyupita.

In addition, Chris is able to summon the characters Chef (料理長 Ryōri-chō) and a unique version of Store Manager using her Hyper.

Passives

Can hold 4 cards (as opposed to the standard 3).
Cannot challenge other players without Chef or Store Manager active.
Gain a Store Manager Counter upon using a Max 1 copy limit non-Gift card.

Notes

Any cards played through Play of the Gods or Extension can also grant Store Manager Counters if they are max 1 copy limit cards.

Overview

As the diligent waitress of Pures, Chris is a summoner character who generally tries to stay out of battle. She sports an average statline with the only drawback being her negative attack stat. This, along with her passive that prevents her from challenging opponents on the field, means that she will take on a very passive role before using one of her Hypers. Unlike other summoner characters such as NoName and Tequila, Chris does not require a specific setup to make opponents fight her minion, as her minion will simply fight in place of her until they are KO'd. It's important to note that Chris and her minion are separate entities, so cards that affect Chris will not affect her minion.

Chef has a statline of 4 HP, +1 ATK, 0 DEF, and +1 EVD, while Store Manager has identical stats to the variety that appears on Boss panels, but with only 4 HP instead of 8.

Playstyles

Chris is very card reliant as most of the game she will be a sitting duck as her stats and inability to attack other players leaves her vulnerable. However when she does obtain Chef she gains much more leeway to play the match with as she has to take no risks on bosses or fights due to her inability to play KO. Chris should generally avoid trying to summon manager as the immense amount of stars and time required to due so are not worth the small advantage of Manager of Chef.

Summary

Pros: +Decent amount of HP for survivability and neutral DEF and EVD; +Hyper that deters opponents from attacking you and can also potentially set them back; +Hyper adds a layer of protection to prevent losing stars; +Ability to hold 4 cards; +Chef removes the risks of any combat
Cons: -Low ATK & cannot challenge while her hyper is not active; -Manager is very expensive; -Very specific setup is required to summon Store Manager; -Minions have lower than average HP and can't be controlled (can't heal, can't use battle cards etc.)

Effect

Chris has two Hypers, which will transform into each other depending on certain criteria.

Chris's main Hyper is Chef, I Could Use Some Help!. When used, the player will summon a Chef NPC, indicated by the Chef, I Need Your Help! stock effect. The Chef unit will spawn next to the player and follow them around on the board. This effect is purely visual; Chef does not count as a unit on the board and will not take effects from panels or cards such as Dinner. In addition, Chef is not controllable and cannot use any cards or receive any stock effects. As long as a Chef unit is active, it also allows Chris to challenge other players. If this card is used when the player already has an active Chef or Store Manager unit, the old unit will be desummoned and replaced with the new one.

In all circumstances where the player would participate in a battle, Chef will be fought in the player's place. The Chef unit has a statline of 4 HP, +1 ATK, 0 DEF, and +1 EVD. It will award 2 Wins and no stars upon being KO'd, and any stars and wins gained by it will instantly go to the summoner. Upon Chef being KO'd, it will be desummoned and the stock effect will end.

If this card is held by a player who is both Norma 4 and has 4 or more stacks of Store Manager Counter, this card will transform into Manager, I Could Use Some Help!.

Chris's secondary Hyper is Manager, I Could Use Some Help!. When used, the player will summon a Store Manager NPC, indicated by the Manager, Help Me! stock effect. The Store Manager unit will spawn next to the player and follow them around on the board. This effect is purely visual; Store Manager does not count as a unit on the board and will not take effects from panels or cards such as Dinner. In addition, Store Manager is not controllable and cannot use any cards or receive any stock effects. As long as a Store Manager unit is active, it also allows Chris to challenge other players. Tips

Playing As Chris

Although you can't heal your summons, you can resummon them by using additional hyper cards. Thus, you can resummon Manager to avoid his death and the loss of the Store Manager Counters.
Although you can't heal your summons, you can heal yourself when you don't have Chef or Manager.
Stat modifying traps such as Poppoformation and Heat 300% won't affect Chef or Manager's stats.
Damage dealing cards such as Long-Distance Shot and Mimyuu's Hammer won't damage Chef or Manager.
Play of the Gods can be a good card for Chris, as many Event cards are Max 1, giving Chris a good chance to earn 2 Manager Counters in one turn.

Playing Against Chris

Scrambled Eve, Gift Exchange, Present Thief, Flamethrower, and Brutal Prank can deny Chris her hyper, making her much more vulnerable. The first three cards also can give other players her hyper which they can use.

Co-op

In Co-op mode, Chris's stats and passive do not visibly change. However, part of her passive functions differently:

Chris cannot challenge enemies when meeting them on the field without Chef or Store Manager active. This is similar to how her passive works in Normal mode, but applies to enemies instead of players.

Chris's Hypers do not change.
