Overview

Possessing a small stature and abrasive disposition, Nanako is a sharp-tongued warrior, ready to fight with the help of her 7 bits. Nanako, herself, sports an unusual stat spread, featuring a health stat of 3, a neutral attack stat, a powerful defense stat, slightly buffed evasion stat, and an improved recovery stat. Despite her low health, Nanako’s primary advantage is that she is the only character in the cast with both a +2 defense and +1 evasion. Subsequently, given the right matchup and luck, Nanako can be deceptively difficult to KO, as her tank-like defense enables her to survive big hits from Bosses and Hyper cards, and her evasion enables the player to avoid weak attacks from both opponents and Mass encount0 Encounter panels. As a result of these stats, battles will generally only chip off a single point of health from Nanako after each battle or no damage, providing the player time to recover by reaching a Mass check0 Home panel or using healing cards such as Saki's Cookieicon Saki's Cookie among others, should they take damage. The stats also enable the player to be able to benefit from both defensive and evasive cards such as Rbitsicon Rbits and Rainbow-Colored Circleicon  Rainbow-Colored Circle. Likewise, thanks to her improved recovery stat, should the player be KO'd, they will likely be able to get back into the game quicker and potentially make a comeback. Given her low HP, the player can also possibly benefit from certain board effects to avoid being KO’d. BomberBomber

can make Nanako very difficult to KO.

Unfortunately, Nanako’s main faults are linked to her stat line failing to deter opponents and the similarly designed Peat overshadowing much of her kit. While Nanako’s buffed evasion and tank-like defense can theoretically keep the player alive, its usefulness is diminished by her lack of attack modifier and low health. Given that Nanako has strong defensive capabilities but no attack stat modifier, she has all the strengths of tanks like Fernet or Kyoko, but also the combat drawbacks. Without an attack modifier, opponents are generally willing to challenge the player at any opportunity, as they expect mediocre retaliation. Consequently, Nanako’s stat prowess is quickly undermined by her low health pool, which is not designed for sustained combat. Using defense, the player can only survive 2 attacks, and if the opponent rolls a 3, using evade is already risky, as a roll of 1-2 will result in a KO. In short, Nanako is often treated like a Kyoko with less HP, as the player is often unwilling to evade, unable to KO the pursuer, and must be lucky enough to Mass warp0 Warp, roll far away, or have cards on hand to prevent Nanako from being KO’d. While her offensive issues can possible

Likewise, if the player is KO’d they may have difficulty mounting a comeback play, as a result of Nanako’s fickle hyper. Given these flaws, many players consider Peat to be a safer/better character, as the threat of +1 attack is more frightening than an additional point in defense and his Blue Crow the Secondicon hyper, although technically weaker, is more reliable. Lastly, all features aside, 3 HP alone could be considered Nanako’s greatest weakness. With such a low health stat, points become priceless, and thus the aforementioned “advantageous” field events can backfire heavily. Simple -1 HP effects such as Air RaidAir Raid

will likely be very challenging for the player to keep their HP up.

Playstyle

As Nanako, the player will generally play passively and focus on star norma. The player will want to focus on Mass draw0 Draw and Mass bonus0 Bonus panels and bring healing and defensive cards to benefit from Nanako's innate defensive strengths.
