100% Orange Juice Wiki

(You might have already seen this- not use to talk pages) Unfortunately no Widow, I think I should have made the issue clearer. I apologize as I did not make myself clear enough. I showed the double template on the old wiki to show the clock working in its on and off state. The problem is that the line between the image and the text is blank if you look at it: Template:FP-Event. There is suppose to be a timer there that does days, hours, minutes, etc as in the picture below. It uses this java to work normally: https://dev.wikia.com/wiki/TZclock Anyway we can fix it? Also minor note, one of my editors is hoping you can add the Cargo extension as well. Also sure, do what you need to to get the card template working, and yes tooltips would be greatly desired.

I'll ask Pcj to double check my changes — Game widow ( talk ) 17:24, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

In regards to Tooltips[]

I see you also fixed some tooltips, however, there are a lot of templates that use them. I can give you a list if you need. Shockbowlocke (talk) 17:07, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

A list would be great — Game widow ( talk ) 17:24, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

The List[]

Here is the list of templates that use tooltip. This is all the ones I can remember at the moment. That should be most if not all of them.

Also another thing. Can you change the page names to font 'RockoUltraFLF' and also is there a way to make Template:Icons display on the page name line we had it on before? Its placement is located here: MediaWiki:Common.js/icons.js Also, thank you for your hard work, you've been amazing. The speed at which you are getting this done is incredible.
Shockbowlocke (talk) 21:32, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Looks like you already figured out how to get the pagenames changed (or am i missing something?). As for the icons, i'll have a look. This may take a bit longer than other changes, not because it's difficult, but because i'm having some surgery done and will be down for a few days — Game widow ( talk ) 12:44, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

In regards to last post[]

Yes, you are correct, I fixed the page title font at around 2:00am yesterday. Sorry about that. I also tried to tweak the Icons css but failed to get the result I desired. In regards to your delayed progress, no worries. I always say "life comes first, it's just a wiki". Get your surgery done, get better, than let us know when you are back.
Shockbowlocke (talk) 14:31, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

My colleague Pcj has fixed the icons js for you — Game widow ( talk ) 14:50, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
Awesome also let me know when the dual character/card template is fixed as those pages are completed busted right now for lack of a better way to put it. The tabbers are all over the place and the pages are mixing. — Shockbowlocke (talk) 16:44, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
I can make an interim fix right now, but it might not be the final version, though the tabs will work — Game widow ( talk ) 16:45, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
I have {{Hyper-TwoCard}} and {{Hyper-ThreeCard}} almost right. The tabs work but they are displayed in the reverse order that they were (for now) — Game widow ( talk )
Nice, and you even got it to use images. I may be able to take a look at it. The one that is really having a problem is the characters though. Yikes. And another question. Does Gamepedia support ogg recoloration? The code in the css for the sora ogg does not seem to work. I assume it works but needs different key words — Shockbowlocke (talk) 19:58, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
I'm really not sure what you mean by ogg recoloration, but we do have a different extension i can show you that makes smaller play buttons for soundfiles, it's called SoundManager2Button. i've implemented it, is that better ? — Game widow ( talk ) 20:32, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
Your {{Character}} template was very messed up. Here's what needed fixingGame widow ( talk ) 22:31, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

(scratch the first part- found the error) Are there shortcuts to any of these things? One of my editors told me about: Special:ListFiles but I didn't even know it existed until he told me.

The main link to Special Pages is under "Tools" at the bottom of the sidebar menu to the left. Beyond that, you just have to look at what's available, unless i misunderstand your question — Game widow ( talk ) 12:13, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Fix needed[]

So whoever you had install the timer function did a good job, however, there appears to be a flaw in the system at the moment. As you can see from this page: User:Shockbowlocke/sandbox2 the expired timers are supposed to say "Event has ended!" however right now the old ones are trying to go all the way back around to the next year instead of displaying that they ended in the Timer Clock area. Effectively ignoring the end date. Please let the person know so they can hopefully repair it. Also, I did check to make sure that this is not because they are in the same area and somehow interacting with each other- they legitimately bugged in some way.

Template Issue[]

Hi Game Widow, I am writing today because I was hoping you might be able to take a look at template: Icons. It was working at some point, but something has changed and it is now broken. It no longer is moving above the line and up to where the page title is. I was hoping you could also change the wiki text background to solid white rather than the white transparent that it is now. Not sure which part in the Hydra that is.
- Shockbowlocke (talk) 14:45, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Sure — Game widow ( talk ) 16:48, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
It should all be ok now. For some reason, the js governing the icons placement needed to be changes (Pcj did that) and the content background has been set to white (that's the div#content selector) — Game widow ( talk ) 17:34, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks. Very efficient as always. It's very possible pcj probably didn't know we wanted it over the line and into the title. I do have another quick question. Are we allowed to change the about page? I only ask because I see ours was compeltely skipped and you guys have it as a legal notice. the original was https://onehundredpercentorangejuice.wikia.com/wiki/100%25_Orange_Juice_Wiki:About We can combine the two messages in some way of course. Also on a side note, feel free to offer suggestions at anytime, as I am always open to them and you likely are much more seasoned than I am.

Mass Deletion of Images[]

Just a quick heads up. The mass deletion of images by Kida was planned. Just thought I would let you know since it was like over 100 images, in case that raises any red flags.
-Shockbowlocke (talk) 20:24, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

I appreciate the heads up — Game widow ( talk ) 22:36, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

Some questions[]

Got a few questions. So I am now aware of Hydra as I've played with it a little. I have new questions now however.

  1. Does MediaWiki:Wiki.css do anything anymore? I can delete if it doesn't.
  2. Can the code for the wiki wordmark be put in a MediaWiki other than Hydra? In short can I put the logo in say January.css and it will auto change for that month? If so, what about the background as well?
  3. Where and how would I go about installing something like the code below. Hydra? I'm sure some of the code needs to be adjusted to gamepedia format, and I need to adjust the colors on it, but it is what I would like for thumbnails to be. This ties back to the fact that it would be better if the code below was in a month so it could change its own color automatically:
.WikiaArticle .article-thumb  {
   background-color: #d4e6f7 !important;
   background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(center top , #FFFFFF 0%, #F2F2F2 100%) !important;
   overflow: hidden !important;
   border:0 !important;
   padding: 3px !important;
   text-align: center !important;
.WikiaArticle .article-thumb, .WikiaArticle .article-thumb img {

Lastly, not a question- just wanted to say the new wiki achievements look really nice. The wiki is looking better everyday. Also I plan to redo the logo later, and when that occurs I'll let you know so we can hopefully adjust the wiki picture on the gamepedia wikis page. (Want the whole logo to be lined in blue like the word wiki). Anyway, get back to me whenever. I try not to bother you too much since I know you have a lot of other wikis to maintain, but it happens when I'm out of ideas.
-Shockbowlocke (talk) 19:54, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

You can delete Mediawiki:Wiki.css and any classes that have "wikiaArticle" (or Wikia) as part of the name are not used. The logo can only be named Wiki.png so that particular file must be updated anytime you want the logo to change. For the thumbnails, if you search for /* thumbnails and galleries and image file history */ inside Mediawiki:Hydra.css , you will find the section that governs the thumbnail styling. The "wiki picture" (we call it the wiki avatar) can be adjusted anytime, i just need a file that is 157x118px in size and i can upload that for you. And lastly, it's no bother, really.
On a side note, for any element you see on screen, you can use your browser developer tools to inspect what css rule is being applied. — Game widow ( talk ) 20:35, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Spotify embed[]

Hey widow, we have pages such as Realism and Trancenation of Suguri where previously they would generate a small embed to Spotify thanks to iframes. We would really like to show the official Spotify preview so we don't have to go through editing that many tracks for a preview. Would it be possible to enable this embed, either by supporting Spotify through an Extension or iframes? KidaJiwo (talk) 03:27, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

I'll have to look into it. I will let you know — Game widow ( talk ) 11:42, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
Pcj is looking into making a widget for those spotify files. Either he, or I will be in touch — Game widow ( talk ) 16:22, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
Pcj made you this widget. I think i've replaced all the instances of your old spotify links, but if i've missed any, you can look at what was done on the Realism page to see what changes are necessary. — Game widow ( talk ) 17:27, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey Widow, I'm writing because I was hoping you could explain what this BETA thing is. I don't know what is being done, but it is screwing with the tabbers whatever it is.

  • For example, we sometimes get a "user:So-and-So prefers to use the enhanced profile". I think this only occurs when using a tabber in your sandbox: User:KidaJiwo/sandbox7
  • Secondly and most dreadfully, it is breaking some of the tabbers somehow: Trick and Treat
  • And 3rdly the preview edit tab is gone. I assume this is some kind of maintenance but I was hoping you could perhaps expand on it.

Shockbowlocke — (talk) 22:49, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Resolved and now and we have nor read up on the info. - Shockbowlocke (talk) 00:02, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
We are upgrading Mediawiki to version 1.31, so the initial rollout is "Beta", once everything is finished rolling out and stable, the "Beta" will be removed — Game widow ( talk ) 01:42, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Audio lazy load[]

Hi game widow, currently we have a page where we put up all the game's songs, Soundtrack, however this page takes a long time to load depending on internet speed (from ~30 seconds and upwards of 3 minutes). While SoundManager2Button could work, we want the audio to be seekable (to have a progress bar) and have a volume bar. Are there any solutions that could currently be applied to only load audio when its clicked on? If not, would the TimedMediaHandler Extension or any other similar solve this? - KidaJiwo (talk) 22:58, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

We are currently vetting an extension which may help, but we can't use TimedMediaHandler because of their license — Game widow ( talk ) 14:52, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
Have you looked at EmbedVideo? That is enabled by default here — Game widow ( talk ) 17:38, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
That is what we currently are using. If possible it'd be easy to give them the attribute preload="metadata" which would prevent them from loading at all until clicked to play, but doing it through javascript takes too long and the files start downloading before the attribute is applied. If you have any solution to apply that attribute to the <audio> tags by default, that'd solve the problem and not cause much issue to the rest of the Wiki. KidaJiwo (talk) 05:06, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Need a Suggestion[]

Do you have any ideas on how I could streamline this: User:Shockbowlocke/sandbox5 All characters have the same amount of lines so that should be pretty easy to code. I am trying my best to migrate this content Source1 and Source2 but it is proving to be extremely time-consuming with my current set up. Ideally, I would be able to put all of the english, japanese, kanji into three separate templates on every character and make them auto-fill the chart. Is there any way to do this without spending many hours?
-Shockbowlocke (talk) 01:17, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Not off the top of my head, but if you ask in the #automation Slack, and ask for River, she can probably suggest something — Game widow ( talk ) 12:28, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Possible code?[]

We are currently beginning to add gifs on some pages as they are helpful for readers, however they are distracting when players are trying to read, as one would expect. As a result, we were hoping we could use: Code in order to pause gifs until the user hovers over them but it does not seem to work here as <img> does not appear to work on gamepedia. Is there an available extension/work around to make this work? Also, Kida was hoping for an update on his Audio lazy load query above if an extension has been found.
-Shockbowlocke (talk) 18:24, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

If it's javascript, just add it to Mediawiki:Common.js — Game widow ( talk ) 20:41, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
The problem is that it doesn't seem to work. I have already add the java to common.js and the css to common.css. The HTML does not function: User:Shockbowlocke/sandbox5.3.
  • Secondly, I still need an answer on the extension.
  • Thirdly, I made a new image for the gamepedia site as you mentioned I could, that I would like uploaded to represent our wiki:
    Gamepedia logo.png
For the javascript, check out the #javascript Slack, you'll find plenty of experts there to help figure out what's not working. For the extension, I've enabled MultimediaViewer, perhaps that will help? and I've uploaded your new wiki avatar, but that system has a fairly long lag, so it might take a day or so to synch up — Game widow ( talk ) 14:32, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Number of Articles[]

Hi, I just wanted to ask what was going on with the "magic word" {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} as it doesn't seem to be working correctly ever since the move to Gamepedia. As you can see on the main page it's saying there are only 43 articles when there are actually over 800. I was wondering if there was any sort of fix for this? Thanks. — Zomoroko (talk) 00:25, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

That statistic has been a problem for some time. I ran a script to update it, but you should also be aware that unless an article contains a link to another article on the wiki, it will never be counted. — Game widow ( talk ) 13:10, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Tooltips Remains Unfixed (7 months later)[]

It's been a long time since we last communicated as I have taken time away from gamepedia for quite a while. I am doing well and hopefully, you are as well. To begin, a long time ago, I spoke with you about an issue with our card hover tooltip. At the time our tooltips weren't working at all so we requested assistance and the response time to the request was very quick, which we are extremely grateful for (You can see this earlier in the "In regards to tooltips" post I made and the following one). Unfortunately, the user who you graciously provided us with, Pcj, never repaired it all the way, after I had informed him of further unresolved issues. Last I knew he was hoping to find a solution as of November 2018, but we never received closure or feedback since that time. Particularly the Ci template is still suffering issues. Characters with dual/triple cards still give the wrong result on one of the cards. For example, in the below the second (and in the last case both 2nd and 3rd) card will fail to work properly. As far as I am aware these are all of the cards with this issue:

Given the importance of these tooltips for example purposes on articles, we are hoping we can have these tooltips repaired to full working order. We hope they can be fixed and if they cannot, we hope for closure on the issue. If Pcj or another coder is available, we would be deeply appreciative of the help. Unfortunately, we are unable to repair this issue ourselves as we have no coder knowledgeable enough, and given your prior help in making this wiki what it is today, I am hoping you will be able to aid us to help make this wiki the best it can be.

I'll take a look again this week. --Pcj (talk) 15:16, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
